Salona - Klis - Vranjaca Cave
The antique Salona, Colonia Martia Iulia, the capital town of the Roman province Dalmatia, was founded at the mouth of the river Jadro where, before the Italics and Romans arrival, the domestic Dalmatian population and the Greek merchants had been living. The impressive walls with towers and gates, the forum with temples, the theatre, the principal’s palace, the amphitheatre and the unique monuments of the bishop’s residence and the Early – Christian Church on the cemeteries where the martyrs of Salona were buried, testify about the greatness, welfare and luxury of the antique metropolis.
After the people’s migration on the place of the destroyed and abandoned Salona the Croats settled down. On the Gospin otok and by the Jadro river branches the Croatian rulers built up the buildings and founded the centre of the Croatian Solin.
